How to play Brick Breaker

Open Brick Breaker, check the instructions and begin a round. Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. Look at what changes after your first action. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Single 45-brick layout, three balls.

Practice with a purpose

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Keep the objective visible.

Your objective

Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

How a round unfolds

  1. Start the ball.
  2. Move the paddle to intercept it.
  3. Paddle contact changes the outgoing angle.
  4. Restart a remaining ball after a loss.

The controls to know

Pointer, arrow keys or held Left/Right. Start / pause and New round are available. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

Put the rules into context

An edge hit sends the ball at a different angle. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

A useful caution

Track its landing point, not only its current x-coordinate. Compare the situation with the worked example. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
