Gomoku: from controls to your first round
Take a moment with Gomoku before moving to another game. Make five or more connected stones horizontally, vertically or diagonally. A full board without a line is a draw. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Check the rule that explains your first action. Look at what changes after your first action.
Practice beyond the first move
After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Notice the feedback after each input.
Your objective
Make five or more connected stones horizontally, vertically or diagonally. A full board without a line is a draw. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Review the board or playing area as it changes.
The order of play
- Player 1 places the first stone on an empty intersection.
- Player 2 places a stone and turns alternate.
- Look for open lines and block your opponent’s threats.
- A winning line immediately ends the round.
How your actions work
Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Check any mode label before starting.
Put the rules into context
Four consecutive stones with an empty point at both ends creates two possible finishing moves. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Check the stated objective.
Keep this in mind
This is freestyle Gomoku, not Renju: there are no special forbidden opening or double-three rules. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
